What am I getting when I purchase a Material 6 replacement back?
Material6 backs are a complete replacement for the glass battery door on the back of your iPhone 4 and 4S. We start with OEM components - the back frame and camera lens - and instead of the original glass install a hand-crafted and finished piece of wood 1mm thick using high grade adhesive to tie all the components together. Each package comes with easy-to-follow instructions, an anti-glare screen protector, #00 Philips screwdriver and Pentalobe screwdriver to easily upgrade the back panel of your iPhone 4 or 4S and protect your screen.
Will the new back affect the performance of my iPhone 4 or 4S?
Not at all - we have sourced the OEM components used to manufacture the iPhone 4 and 4S, and have thoroughly tested reception, WiFi performance, Bluetooth performance, heat dissipation and resiliency. Your iPhone will continue to function exactly as it always has, but you’ll enjoy using it even more!
Does the Material6 back work with my iPhone 4 or 4S case?
Absolutely. The dimensions and thickness of your iPhone remain exactly the same with your new back, so any case from any manufacturer will still fit perfectly. Your iPhone 4 or 4S will also still work in any dock.
How hard is the new back to install?
Our simple installation guide is available here, as is a video guide. The entire swap takes two minutes on average.
Are there different materials available?
Periodically, the offerings presented on our site will change to reflect our new choices for the season as well as customer requests. While we don't offer custom material choices during any given cycle, at least three new options will be available quarterly, and these choices will be driven by feedback from our customers as well as current trends.
Do you guys ship internationally? How much is shipping?
Material6 backs are available domestically and internationally via USPS shipping with a flat rate of $6 domestic and $35 international. Once your order ships, you will receive an email with tracking information, and shipping speeds are 3-5 business days domestic / 5-7 business days international. Since each Material6 back is comprised of handmade components and is assembled by hand, there may sometimes be a delay between the order being placed and the finished piece shipping, but we try to keep this down to 1-2 days. When order volumes are high, it may be a little longer, but rest assured that we are taking our time to make every piece perfect.
Will taking apart my iPhone 4 or 4S void my warranty with Apple?
Apple has made the back panel of the iPhone 4 and 4S very simple to remove, and your new Material6 back completely replaces it, so you will be able to easily reinstall the original glass back with no signs of modification to your iPhone. While we can not guarantee that Apple representatives will honor your warranties with them, we can guarantee that the process of upgrading your iPhone with a Material6 back leaves no traces and is completely reversible.
